Terms of Service

Last updated: July 28, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Seraph: Life Expectancy (the “App”), made by Hailcat LLC (“Hailcat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), and of the website at hailcat.app (the “Site”). By using the App or the Site, you agree to them.

The one thing to take away.

Seraph produces an illustration built from population statistics. It is not a prediction of how long you will live, it is not medical advice, and it is not a medical device or a diagnosis. No model can tell an individual person when they will die. Treat the number as a starting point for thinking, and talk to a doctor or a qualified professional about any decision that matters.

1. The service

The App asks you a short set of questions about your health and background and shows you a life expectancy, the range around it, and a survival curve. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the App Store terms.

The App is intended for adults aged 18 or over and for use in the United States. It is built on United States mortality data and is not calibrated for other countries.

2. Educational purpose, not medical advice

The App is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. What it shows you is a statistical illustration, not a forecast of your actual lifespan. In particular:

Nothing in the App is medical, health, insurance, investment, tax, or legal advice, and no doctor-patient, fiduciary, or advisory relationship is created by your use of it. Do not use the App to diagnose or treat any condition, to decide whether to seek care, or to stop or change any treatment. If you are worried about your health, speak to a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services; in the United States you can call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

3. Your data

Your answers are used to calculate your estimate on your device and are not saved by the App. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data, which carries no identifier and does not include your date of birth. All of it is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the App, for example by reverse engineering it (except as permitted by law), interfering with its operation, sending automated or forged traffic to our systems, or using it in violation of applicable law.

The App is licensed for your own personal use only. Using it to make decisions about other people, including underwriting, insurance pricing, employment, lending, or the provision of health or financial services, or otherwise using it in the course of a business or profession, requires our prior written permission.

5. Intellectual property

The App and Site, including their design, text, graphics, and the underlying model and its calibration, are owned by Hailcat LLC and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our trademarks or content except the limited license to use the App described above. The underlying government and actuarial data sources are published by their respective bodies and are not ours.

6. No warranty

The App and Site are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hailcat LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any health, medical, financial, or other decisions or losses arising out of or related to your use of the App, the Site, or the estimates they produce. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App (which may be zero).

8. Changes

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. This includes adding, changing, removing, or beginning to charge for features; a feature being free today does not guarantee it will remain free. We also expect to improve the underlying model, which means the same answers may produce a different estimate in a later version. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Hailcat LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
