Privacy Policy

Hailcat LLC (“Hailcat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) makes the Hail Cat mobile game (the “App”) and operates the website at hailcat.app (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App or the Site, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

a) The App (current version)

The current version of Hail Cat is a single-device experience. The following are stored only on your device and are not transmitted to us or anyone else:

• a nickname / display name you choose;
• your selected cat character and in-game settings (sound, music, haptics);
• screenshots you capture in-game, which are saved inside the App’s private storage on your device (not your photo library).

You can remove this information at any time by deleting it within the App or by deleting the App. We do not collect device identifiers, location, contacts, your photo library, or usage analytics in the App.

b) The Site

If you submit your email address through the “notify me” form on hailcat.app, we collect that email address so we can tell you when the App launches and share related updates. That form is processed by Formspree, our form-and-email service provider.

We count page views on the Site so we can see which pages and articles people actually read. This is our own counter, running on our own server, and it is deliberately anonymous: there is no cookie, no advertising tracker, no third party analytics service, and no identifier of any kind, so two visits by the same person cannot be told apart from two visits by two people. For each page view we record the page address, the site you arrived from (the site name only, never the full link, since a search link can contain what you typed), your browser and operating system, whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, an approximate window size, and the language and region your browser reports. We do not store your IP address, and we do not use it to work out where you are. We do not use advertising cookies on the Site, and we never sell or share any of this. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we skip the count entirely.

c) Future online features

We plan to add optional online features such as online multiplayer matches and leaderboards. When those features launch, and only if you choose to use them, we (or our server provider) may process:

• a username / display name and a basic account identifier;
• gameplay and match information (such as scores, results, and skill rating) needed to run matches and leaderboards;
• limited technical information (such as IP address and connection data) needed to operate the service and prevent abuse.

We will update this Policy before those features collect any such information. Online play will remain optional and is intended for players age 13 and older.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• operate, maintain, and improve the App and Site;
• respond to you and send the launch and update notifications you requested;
• for future online features, match you with other players, maintain leaderboards, and keep the service secure and fair.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. How we share information

We share information only:

• with service providers who help us operate (for example, Formspree for the Site’s email form and, for future online features, our server-hosting provider), and only as needed to provide their service;
• with Apple, to the extent the App Store handles downloads and any future in-app purchases or subscriptions (governed by Apple’s privacy policy);
• if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Hailcat LLC, our users, or others;
• in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), subject to this Policy.

4. Data retention

We keep launch-list emails until you ask to be removed or we stop maintaining the list. Locally stored App data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the App. For future online features, we will keep account and gameplay data only as long as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymize it.

5. Children’s privacy

Hail Cat is intended for users age 13 and older. The App and Site are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us through our contact form and we will delete it.

6. Your choices and rights

• Email list: every notification email includes an unsubscribe option, or email us to be removed.
• On-device data: delete it within the App or by deleting the App.
• Access & deletion: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, or to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us through our contact form. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International users

We operate from the United States. If you use the App or Site from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected before they take effect.
