One number, in plain years
A single life expectancy, with the assumptions it rests on written next to it rather than buried.
Life Expectancy
How long might you live?
Seraph: Life Expectancy turns twelve questions into a life expectancy, and more usefully the range around it. Nobody lives an average, so we show you the spread instead of one tidy number.
Age, sex, smoking, height and weight, blood pressure, diabetes, how you rate your own health, education, income, marital status, exercise and alcohol. No account, no sign-in, and nothing to set up.
A single life expectancy, with the assumptions it rests on written next to it rather than buried.
Twenty thousand simulated lifetimes, so you see the likely span and the chance of reaching any given age, not just the middle.
The estimate is calculated on your device from tables built into the app. There are no accounts and no sign-in, and we do not collect your date of birth.
A life expectancy is one point on a curve. The app draws the whole thing: the chance you are still alive at every age ahead of you, and the band where most lifetimes land.
Probability of reaching each age. The shaded band is where most lifetimes land. Illustrative shape, not anyone's result.
In the app this curve is yours, redrawn from your own answers across twenty thousand simulated lifetimes.
Seraph: Life Expectancy illustrates longevity using published US government and actuarial mortality data, Social Security and CDC life tables and actuarial mortality improvement research, adjusted for the health and lifestyle factors you enter. It applies both historical and projected future improvement, tapering at older ages, and is calibrated against published life expectancy figures. It is the same engine behind Seraph: Retirement Planner, our app for the money side of the same question.
It is coming to the App Store for iPhone and iPad, free. Leave your email and we will send one note the day it lands.
